What a lovely day in Amsterdam it was, for couple of various reasons, but most important is that I got to spend it with my best friend! We don’t get to see each other often, but every second spent together is priceless. She lives in America, I live in The Netherlands, but no matter how far we are, I know we are friends for life.
It was Julia’s first time in Amsterdam and the weather was perfect, so we decided to spend the day enjoying the city. We took a stroll through my favourite neighbourhood in A’dam – Jordan, in spring and summer this area is so beautiful. You can see old dutch architecture, bootes going through the canals and ducks crossing the streets.
But most important – we got time to talk! And believe me, we talked a LOT!! Although I am thankful to have technology which allows us to talk and see each other online, but nothing will ever replace being able to see your friend and hold hands, hear each other laughs and simply be together!
I don’t know when we will get to see each other again, and I know that this one day spent together will keep my heart warm and full of memories until next time!!
Here are some pictures we shot on our first day in Italy. We arrived early in the morning to Milan, had to wait a bit until we could check-in in our hotel and than got ready and headed out to explore the city. The weather was a bit gloomy, so I did through my leather jacket on top. For the rest I kept my outfit pretty simple yet stylish. The key was to feel comfy, because I knew we were going to walk a lot on that day. On my feet I decided to put my well-loved black suede slip-ons.
Leather jacket – ZARA
Striped top – Primark
Scuba skirt – Kira Plastinina
Black suede slip-ons – Van Dalen
Everybody dreams… Most people dream about a big house, an expensive car or a closet full of designer shoes and bags. Don’t get me wrong, that’s absolutely fine. I also dream about all those things, especially bags! But most of all I dream about places. Places I want to visit, places I want to see, places I want to experience.
One of those places on my list was Vernazza in the National Park Cinque Terre in Italy. To answer why, I probably should tell the story behind it. Many years ago I had a big puzzle with a very beautiful scenery on it. The picture was full of colors: deep blue sea, white fishing boats, pink houses and a lot of green. But what attracted me most, was how secluded this place was, almost every picture that I could find was taken somewhere from above. It’s like nobody was allowed to interrupt the little peaceful routine that locals have created there.
The more I looked at that puzzle, the more I want to be a part of it. So I have made it my goal and I started my research. Pretty soon I found out that tourists were actually allowed and it was a very popular destination. So all I had to do is pick a date and book flight tickets. I will be honest, it did take me about 7 or maybe even more years to do that… But it’s all about being patient and waiting for a right time… And so it came when Eric and me decided to treat ourselves to a little mid year vacation to Italy. I knew immediately that it was my chance and I wasn’t gonna lose it.
Seeing it with my own eyes felt almost surreal. I just couldn’t put two imagines together – my puzzle and me. What made it even better, is a lovely surprise of a possibility to hike through the mountains along the coast back to the train station. And that’s where all the pieces came together – I saw the exact view that I dreamed of.
Let me know in the comments below what is your dream destination?
